How to Buy Art: A Beginner's Cheat Sheet
In their recent "How to Buy Art: A Beginner's Cheat Sheet," the New York Times admits there is no easy way to find & vet advisors if you don't already have a collecting acquaintance. They suggest tracking down names in media articles- but is that really the most efficient strategy for a new collector? This strategy is time-consuming. Plus these names do not necessarily translate to value and extensive expertise simply because a media outlet used a quote. The Clarion List's directory of art advisors with ratings and reviews would better serve a new collector who can find an expert within a specialized field of interest. And, coming soon, new collectors will be able to learn if an advisor works with new collectors straight from the advisor's profile page, as well as read feedback about the advisor from past and current clients.
